What it is

The IRIS 180 MMA inverter welder by Awelco (code 61245) is the professional solution for stick electrode welding in craft, industrial and maintenance settings. Designed to ensure arc stability and precise control, it suits work on ferrous metals and mild steels, delivering clean results even with a variable mains supply.

A stick (MMA) welder is a power source that melts a coated electrode to weld steel, stainless steel and cast iron; it is used with electrodes, cables and connectors.

How to use it

Connect the earth clamp to the clean workpiece close to the joint, fit the electrode in the electrode holder and set the current according to the type and diameter of the electrode. Strike the arc by scratching the electrode on the workpiece and travel with a short arc and constant angle; at the end of the bead, remove the slag with a chipping hammer and wire brush. Store electrodes in a dry place and work with a welding helmet, gloves and welding clothing.
