Frequently asked questions: Workwear
What work clothing do I need on a building site?
For a building site you need sturdy trousers, a jacket or short coat for the cold and high-visibility garments when working near vehicles. Work clothing is not in itself PPE (personal protective equipment): if the risk involves cuts, heat or chemical agents, you need a garment with specific marking. Assess the risks with the safety manager, as required by Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety.
When do I need a high-visibility garment?
High-visibility garments compliant with EN ISO 20471 help you to be seen when working near vehicles or on the road. Not all work garments are high-visibility: check the standard marking on the label. Keep the garment clean, because dirt reduces visibility.
Which waterproof jacket should I choose for outdoor work?
Waterproof jackets and trousers protect against water during outdoor work. EN 343 covers the rain protection of the garment, so it is worth checking the marking on the label. Choose a model with an adjustable hood and fastenings that hold well, even when wearing gloves.
Fleece or padded jacket: what should I wear in the cold?
The fleece is an intermediate layer, light and warm, to be worn over the thermal base layer. The padded jacket is for lower temperatures and for breaks outdoors. Layering, with the thermal base layer underneath, is the most flexible approach, because it adapts when the weather or the pace of work changes.
Which work socks should I choose, winter or summer?
Winter merino socks are designed for the cold, summer ones in cotton or technical fabric for heat and breathability. Some models, such as the Diadora Utility socks with Kevlar, have Kevlar reinforcements, as the name indicates. Choose the size according to your shoe size and wash them according to the label.
How do I choose the size of work dungarees?
Measure the waist, the chest and the crotch length and compare them with the size chart of the model. Dungarees that are too long can get in the way, while ones that are too short restrict movement. Try the garment on wearing the top you will have underneath, because the thickness changes the fit.
What garments do I need for working in a kitchen?
For the kitchen the collection includes kitchen coats and jackets, designed in fabrics that withstand frequent washing. Choose the fabric according to the wash temperature stated on the label. Light colours show stains, dark ones hide them, and the choice depends on how you use the garment.
Are there women's versions of work clothing?
Yes, the collection includes some work T-shirts, sweatshirts and shirts in a women's version, indicated on the product page. For women's sizes, check the specific size chart of the model, because the cut does not always match the men's. Ask for the chart before ordering several pieces.
