Laser Measuring Tools and Accessories

421 products · Laser and Digital Measurement

Laser measuring tools detect distances, levels and alignments with a beam of light, more quickly and accurately than manual instruments. They are used by technicians, builders and installers for surveys, setting out and checks on site. Alongside the instruments you will also find the accessories needed to use them properly, such as tripods, mounts and batteries.

Types available in the collection

  • Laser distance meters: for measuring distances in a few seconds.
  • Line laser levels: with red or green beam, with horizontal and vertical lines.
  • Rotary lasers: for levelling and alignment over large areas.
  • Tripods and mounts: for positioning the instrument at height and with stability.
  • Accessories: batteries, mounts for telescopic poles and receivers.

Brands include Leica, Spektra, Metrica, DeWalt, Stabila, Milwaukee and Stanley.

How to choose

Consider the range and accuracy you need, and whether you work outdoors: a green beam is usually more visible, while for long distances in the open a receiver is needed. Also consider the power supply and which accessories you need. For models, availability and lead times, AMES Srl works on a quotation basis: write or call us.

Frequently asked questions: Laser Measuring Tools and Accessories
What is a laser distance meter used for?

A laser distance meter measures the distance between two points in seconds, by aiming the beam at the wall or floor. It is used for surveys, work estimates and room inspections. Some models also calculate areas and volumes, useful for sizing materials such as flooring and plaster.

Line or rotating laser level: which should I choose?

A line laser, such as the Plano 3D Green laser level, projects horizontal and vertical lines to set out walls, tile laying and alignments indoors. A rotating level, such as the EVO 360 rotating laser level, turns through 360 degrees and covers large surfaces and open sites. Choose according to the size of the area to be levelled.

Red or green beam: what is the difference?

The green beam is more visible to the human eye, especially in bright rooms and outdoors, so it is easier to follow even at a distance. The red beam is sufficient indoors and over short distances. Check the stated range in the data sheet, which varies with the colour and with ambient light.

Which tripod should I choose for a rotating laser level?

The tripod must have adjustable height and a stable head, suited to the weight of the level. For rotating site lasers you need a sturdy support that does not vibrate during rotation. Check that the tripod's threaded mount is compatible with your level before fitting it.

How do I keep a site laser accurate?

Check the calibration before an important job, by comparing the measurement with a known reference. Do not drop the instrument, and keep it in its case when not in use. Clean the optics with a soft cloth and replace the batteries before they run down in the middle of a measurement.

Which laser class is needed for site use?

Site levels and distance meters are often class 2 or 3R lasers, according to the IEC 60825-1 standard. The class is stated on the data sheet and on the label of the machine. Do not point the beam into other people's eyes, and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the use of any dedicated glasses.

What is a total station and what is it used for?

A total station is a surveying instrument that measures angles and distances with precision, used for surveys, setting out and checks on large works. A robotic one follows the prism by itself, while a manual one requires an operator to aim it at the target. Both require trained personnel and specific accessories such as prisms and tripods.
