Clean Water Pumps
247 products · Pumps and Hydraulics
Clean water pumps move water free of solids: for irrigation, supplying systems, emptying tanks and cisterns, and pressurisation. The collection includes surface and submersible electric pumps from brands such as Wortex, Pedrollo, Kärcher, Vigor, Makita and Milwaukee.
Types available
- Centrifugal and multistage electric pumps for high flow rates and heads
- Self-priming and jet surface electric pumps
- Submersible pumps for clean water and for cisterns
- Well pumps and pressure sets
How to choose
Start with the flow rate, that is, litres per minute, and the head, that is, the height to which the water must be lifted. Then the position: surface if the pump stays out of the water, submersible if it is to be immersed. The electrical power available and the diameter of the connections, to be matched to the system pipes, also matter.
If the water contains sand or other impurities, a clean water pump is not the right choice: in that case you need a pump designed for dirty water.

Frequently asked questions: Clean Water Pumps
What is the difference between a surface pump and a submersible pump for clean water?
A surface pump stays out of the water and draws it up through a hose, and it suits shallow wells or transfers between nearby tanks. A submersible pump works immersed in the water, pushes it to greater heights, and is used for deep wells and cisterns. Before choosing, check the suction depth and the distance from the intake point.
How do I choose a clean-water pump by flow rate and head?
Flow rate is how many litres per minute the pump delivers; head is the height it can reach, measured in metres. Calculate the height difference from the intake to the outlet, add the losses in the pipes, and choose a pump that covers both values. In this collection you will find the SPM and JET series, and multistage models for higher heads.
Do I need a pressure booster set with an inverter for the home or for irrigation?
A pressure booster set with an inverter keeps the pressure in the network constant, even when more than one tap or sprinkler is open. It serves a home, a small farm or an irrigation system with several outlets. In this collection you will find Wortex models such as the VM inverter Easy, MULTI VGt and MULTI Xt-GXt, to be chosen according to consumption.
Which pumps are used to draw water from a deep well?
For a deep well, multistage submersible pumps are used, such as the versions for wells in plastic or stainless steel. The stainless steel version resists aggressive water better, while the plastic one is lighter to handle. The well diameter determines which pump can fit, so measure it before ordering. In this collection you will also find pumps for 5-inch wells.
How do I use a clean-water pump to irrigate a vegetable plot?
To irrigate a vegetable plot or garden with an engine pump or an electric surface pump, connect the suction hose to the source using leak-tight fittings. Place the pump on a flat base, above the water level, and secure the hose well. Choose a pump with enough flow to run all the sprinklers you plan to use at the same time.
Who uses clean-water pumps, and for which jobs?
They are used by farmers, gardeners, installers, well maintenance workers and building sites that need water for washing or to fill tanks. Engine-driven pumps serve where there is no mains power, electric pumps where there is a socket. For transferring from cisterns or tanks, submersible pumps are used, working directly immersed in the liquid.
How do I install a submersible pump in a well or cistern safely?
Secure the pump with its safety cable and keep it raised off the bottom so it does not draw in sediment. Connect the power supply through a residual current device (RCD) and follow the CEI 64-8 standard for the electrical system. Do not run the pump dry, and check the IP rating shown on the data sheet, which indicates its resistance to water.
