Compressed Air Accessories and Tools

194 products · Air Treatment and Distribution

This collection includes accessories and tools for compressed air: everything needed to connect, supply and make use of a compressor in the workshop, the body shop or on site. It is aimed at those who already have a system and want to complete it, or who need to replace worn parts.

What you will find in this collection

  • Multifunction compressed air kits
  • Coiled hoses with fittings
  • Electronic condensate drains
  • Air tools, such as chisels and cut-off tools
  • A few small compressors and technical lubricants

How to choose

  • Check that fittings, hoses and tools are compatible with the pressure and flow rate of your compressor.
  • For continuous work, consider a condensate drain, which helps keep water out of the system and the tools.
  • Choose a multifunction kit if you are equipping a new workstation, individual accessories if you are completing an existing system.

To receive a quotation or advice on choosing, write to or call the AMES technicians: they will help you find the items suited to your job.

Frequently asked questions: Compressed Air Accessories and Tools
Which compressed air hose should I choose?

The compressed air hose is chosen according to its inner diameter, its length and the working pressure of the compressor. Polyurethane is flexible and light, PA12 polyamide withstands pressure and low temperatures well, and rubber is tough but heavier. Choose a diameter suited to the tools, because a hose that is too thin reduces the pressure reaching the machine.

Coiled or straight hose: which is better?

The coiled hose extends when needed and returns compact at rest, which is handy in the workshop and on site. The straight hose is easier to keep in line and can come in longer lengths, but must be rewound by hand. The coiled hose with fittings or with a gun is practical for blowing and inflating. Always check the maximum pressure marked on the hose.

How do I choose an automatic hose reel?

The automatic hose reel keeps the hose tidy and rewinds it after use. It should be chosen according to the length and diameter of the hose, such as the model with an 8x12 mm hose of 10 metres. Mount it on the wall, in a spot that does not get in the way, and connect it to a quick coupling compatible with the compressor.

Which quick couplings do I need for the compressor?

Quick couplings let you connect and disconnect tools without using any extra tools. They come in male or female thread versions, and the type is chosen according to the connection of the compressor and of the tool. The line valve is used to shut off the air flow. The thread sizes must match, otherwise leaks reduce the performance of the tools.

How do I use pneumatic tools safely?

Pneumatic tools, such as chisels and cut-off tools, must be used at the pressure indicated by the manufacturer, set with the appropriate regulator. Wear goggles, gloves and hearing protection, because noise and flying chips are real hazards. Always disconnect the air before changing an accessory and never point the jet at people.

Do I need a condensate drain?

The condensate drain removes the water that forms in compressed air, and the electronic model discharges automatically when it detects liquid. It protects tools and pipes from rust and moisture. It should be installed downstream of the compressor, at the lowest point of the line, and checked periodically.

Which lubricant should I use for the compressor?

The lubricant must be chosen as indicated by the compressor manufacturer, because different oils can damage seals and internal parts. For pneumatic tools a dedicated oil is used, fed into the line at the recommended rate. Read the product's data sheet and safety data sheet before use.

How do I choose a tyre inflator head?

The inflator head connects to the tyre valve to adjust its pressure. Check that the connection matches the valve type, and check the pressure with a separate gauge, because the compressor display can show different values. Never exceed the pressure marked on the sidewall of the tyre.
