Scroll Compressors
40 products · Compressors
Scroll compressors produce oil-free compressed air thanks to a spiral compression unit, with no lubrication in the compression chamber. For this reason they are used where the air must stay clean, for example in the food, pharmaceutical and medical sectors and in laboratories, as well as in industry in general. They run smoothly and with limited noise.
Types in the collection
- Abac oil-free scroll compressors, with power ratings up to 11 kW.
- Fini Compressori oilless scroll compressors of the OS series, starting from 2.2 kW.
- Complete versions, mounted on a horizontal receiver and with an onboard dryer, or the compressor unit only.
How to choose
Start from the air flow rate required and the working pressure, in bar, demanded by the installation. Then consider the motor power in kW, the three-phase supply, the presence of the receiver and the dryer, and the space available for installation. If several users work at the same time, it is best to size the compressor with a margin of flow rate.

Frequently asked questions: Scroll Compressors
What is an oil-free scroll compressor and how does it differ from an oil-lubricated one?
An oil-free scroll compressor compresses air with two spirals without lubrication in the compression chamber, so the outlet air contains no oil. An oil-lubricated compressor needs more attention to air quality and more careful filtration. Scroll compressors are valued for their smooth operation and low noise. Check in the model data sheet that the air produced is suitable for your application.
What power of scroll compressor should I choose?
Power is chosen according to the tools to be supplied and the continuous working time. In the collection you will find Fini OS series oilless scroll compressors from 2.2 kW and Abac oil-free scroll compressors with power up to 11 kW. Compare the air flow required by the tools with the data on the technical sheet, not only the motor's rated power.
Do I need a 230 V or a 400 V compressor?
The model code indicates voltage and frequency. In Abac models you will find the code IEC 400 50 3, that is 400 V at 50 Hz three-phase, or 460 V and 230 V at 60 Hz, also three-phase. Check that the voltage matches that of the available line and that the system is three-phase before purchase. The wrong voltage can damage the motor.
Which scroll compressor is suitable for the food or pharmaceutical industry?
In these sectors the air in contact with the products must not contain oil, and the oil-free scroll meets this requirement. In the food, pharmaceutical and medical industries it is worth checking the air purity class required by company procedures. The choice of model should be agreed with whoever manages the customer's quality procedures.
Scroll compressor on a horizontal tank or without a tank: which should I choose?
Complete versions are mounted on a horizontal tank and are ready to connect. Versions without a tank must be matched with a storage tank sized for your application. The tank reduces frequent motor starts and stabilises the pressure. Choose according to the available space and the type of tools connected.
How do I use a scroll compressor safely?
Place the compressor in a ventilated room, on a level surface, and connect it to a socket with suitable protection. Release the pressure from the tank before any maintenance or cleaning. Do not exceed the maximum pressure shown on the rating plate and check the safety valve and pressure gauge periodically. Read the model's user manual before first start-up.
Is a compressor's tank subject to periodic inspections?
The tank is a pressure vessel, and management of the equipment follows Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety, which requires the employer to keep equipment in efficient working order and to comply with the checks required by regulations. The deadlines and methods of inspection must be defined with the technician or the company safety manager.
Who uses a scroll compressor and for what jobs?
It is used by workshops, vehicle body shops, installers, laboratories and companies in the food, pharmaceutical and medical industries. It supplies air tools, screwdrivers and laboratory equipment. In laboratories and medical rooms clean air is required for direct use, and the oil-free scroll is chosen precisely for this reason.
