How to choose

Choose according to the season and the job: a softshell or a fleece for the mid-seasons, a padded jacket for real cold. Check the fit and size, the useful pockets and whether you need specific features such as ventilation for forestry work. AMES Srl works by quotation: write to info@amessrl.com or call 051 728529 for availability, delivery times and terms. Frequently asked questions: Jackets and Padded Jackets
Which jacket should I choose for working outdoors on site in winter?

For real cold, a padded jacket or a parka is best, with insulation suited to the temperature. For the mid-seasons, a softshell or a fleece is enough, light and breathable. Choose according to the job: if you stay still outdoors, padding matters more; if you move a lot, a lighter jacket stops you sweating and then getting cold.

What is the difference between a softshell and a work fleece?

The softshell is a stretch fabric that protects from the wind and lets the skin breathe, designed for freedom of movement. The fleece is softer and warmer, excellent as a mid layer under an outer jacket. Choose the softshell for wind protection without bulk, the fleece for warmth and comfort.

What are U-Power winter work parkas?

The U-Power parkas in the collection, such as the Nordlux, Freeway and Inari models, are padded winter workwear garments. The Freeway model is described as a 5-in-1 parka, that is, usable in several configurations, while the Wink model is a padded jacket. Check the size and fit, because a roomier garment lets you wear a mid layer underneath without pulling on the shoulders.

Are all Diadora Utility jackets padded?

No. The collection includes padded and lightweight jackets, such as Tech Athena, Oslo Hybrid, Evolution and Motor Ducati, as well as a Chicago knit jacket and the Swat EVO bomber. Read the page of each model and compare fabric and padding. For cold days choose the padded ones, for milder use the lightweight or knit versions.

What are Husqvarna ventilated forestry jackets for?

Husqvarna ventilated forestry jackets are designed for people who work outdoors in green spaces and in forestry work, with ventilation that helps avoid building up too much heat. They are workwear garments for general outdoor use. They do not replace the protective equipment required for chainsaw use: if you use one, check with your employer what protection is needed.

How do I choose the right size of work jacket?

Measure your chest at the widest point and compare it with the manufacturer's size chart, because sizes are not the same across different brands. If the jacket is to be worn over other layers, take a larger size. Try the garment on with your arms raised and bent, to check that it does not pull on the shoulders or ride up at the back.

Is a work jacket enough as PPE (personal protective equipment)?

Not always. A jacket protects from cold and bad weather, but under Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety the employer must provide the necessary PPE based on the risk assessment. If the work requires high visibility or protection from rain, check on the product page that the garment complies with the required standards, such as EN ISO 20471 or EN 343.
