Dot Lasers

Dot laser levels project luminous reference points, generally five, to carry a vertical from floor to ceiling or to transfer a point from one plane to another. They are widely used for fitting suspended ceilings, partitions, windows and doors, and building services.

Types available

• 5-dot lasers with red or green beam;
• lithium battery models;
• dot lasers combined with cross lines;
• multi-dot levels with case and mount.

The brands available are DeWalt and Stanley.

How to choose

The green beam is more visible in bright environments, the red one is more common on basic models. Check the range, the self-levelling, the type of battery and the accessories supplied, such as mounting bracket and case.

With a dot laser a reference can be carried from floor to ceiling in a few seconds, a task that with a plumb line would take time and a second operator.
