Claw Hammers
41 products
The carpenter's hammer has a head with a flat face for striking and a claw on the other side for pulling out nails. It is the basic tool for anyone working with formwork, timber roofs, scaffolding and carpentry on site.
The types available
- Hammers with wooden handle, such as hickory or ash, light and traditional
- Hammers with fibre or steel handle and rubber-coated grip, more resistant to impact
- Magnetic hammers, with a head that holds the nail while it is started
- Models with straight or curved claw, in different weights
- Joiner's hammers and carpenter's versions without a handle, so that one can be fitted to size
Brands available include Stanley, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Pavan, Mass and Rubi.
How to choose
The weight of the head determines the force of the blow and how tiring the work is: lighter weights for finishing work, heavier weights for heavy nailing. The straight claw is better suited to dismantling and levering, the curved one to pulling nails. A fibre or steel handle absorbs vibration better than a wooden one.
