Frequently asked questions: Misting and Spraying Systems
What are airbrushes and spray guns used for?
They spray paints, lacquers and other liquids with a fine, even jet. Airbrushes suit touch-ups, decoration and precision work on small surfaces, such as the Grifo series or the F1, N and S models. Spray guns handle larger volumes, such as the 800 ml battery spray gun in the range.
Airless or spray gun: what is the difference?
Airless uses a high-pressure pump to push the paint without compressed air, and it suits large surfaces such as walls, ceilings and gates. A compressed-air spray gun, or one with a reservoir, offers more control in detailed work. For large surfaces use airless; for detail use a spray gun or airbrush.
Which spare parts are needed for an airless pump?
Airless pumps wear out mainly in the seals and valves. Seal and repair kits, such as those compatible with Graco Xtreme, or the pump repair kit 244194, replace the parts subject to wear. Before dismantling, release the pressure and clean the circuit as described in the manual. Use only spare parts compatible with your model.
Which airless paint sprayer should I choose from the range?
The Dino Power range includes lightweight models, such as the DIY versions, up to professional pumps of 4500 W with a trolley. Compare power, hopper type, hose length and accessories. For occasional use a DIY model is sufficient; for continuous use a professional machine with a trolley is better. Read the data sheet for flow rate and pressure.
How do you use an airless sprayer safely?
An airless sprayer delivers at very high pressure: an accidental jet can seriously injure the skin. Never point the gun at people or at yourself, use the trigger safety when you are not spraying, and release the pressure before cleaning or working on the nozzles. Wear goggles, gloves and a mask suitable for the product.
Which standards govern spray painting equipment?
Spray equipment is machinery and must comply with the Machinery Directive, with CE marking and an operating manual in the language of the country where it is used. At work, D.Lgs. 81/2008 (Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety) applies to use, maintenance and training. For solvent-based products in enclosed spaces, the safety data sheet states the ventilation and protection required.
How do you clean a spray painting system after use?
Flush the circuit with the solvent or water indicated by the paint manufacturer, circulating the cleaner until it comes out clean. Do not leave the product in the tank, as it can dry out and block the pump and nozzles. Clean the filter and nozzle with the tool supplied, without using metal objects that could damage the orifice.
