Oscillating Multi-Tools
19 products
The oscillating multi-tool is a compact machine that moves the accessory with small, rapid oscillations. By changing the accessory it can be used for plunge cutting, sanding, scraping and finishing in tight spots, where a saw or an ordinary sander cannot reach. It is widely used by joiners, plumbers, electricians and tilers.
Types included in the collection
- Cordless models, 12 V and 18 V, including with brushless motor.
- Corded models, for continuous work.
- Bare unit only, if you already have compatible batteries and chargers.
- Complete kits, with case and accessories, in Stanley and DeWalt versions.
How to choose
If you work on site or in places without a socket, a cordless model is best, and in this case check that the battery is compatible with the other machines you use. For long jobs at a fixed workstation, a corded model is fine. The brushless motor lasts longer and uses less battery. Then make sure the kits include the accessories you need, for example wood blades, scrapers and sanding pads, and that the fitting suits the spares you will use.

Frequently asked questions: Oscillating Multi-Tools
What is an oscillating multi-tool used for?
An oscillating multi-tool moves the accessory with small, rapid oscillations. This lets you plunge-cut, sand, scrape and finish in tight spots, where a saw or a normal sander cannot reach. Changing the blade or pad changes the job: cutting, sanding or scraping different materials.
Cordless or corded multi-tool: which should I choose?
12 V or 18 V cordless models, including brushless ones, are used where there is no mains power or when you move around the site often. Corded models, rated 300 W, are designed for continuous work in a workshop or laboratory, with a socket nearby. Choose according to where you work most often.
What accessories do I need to cut, sand or scrape?
For cutting, use plunge-cut blades for wood, metal or plastic. For sanding, you need pads for abrasive paper, and for scraping, scraper blades. The choice of accessory depends on the material being worked, and compatibility with the machine's fitting should always be checked on the model datasheet.
Complete kit or body only: which is better?
The complete kit includes the case, accessories and often the batteries with charger, which is useful for getting started or having everything to hand. Body only is the right choice if you already have batteries and a charger from the same range. Always check the battery voltage before buying.
Which safety rules apply to an oscillating tool?
An oscillating tool produces vibration, and Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety requires the risk from hand-arm vibration to be assessed and reduced. You can choose models with an anti-vibration handle and limit continuous use time. Also wear safety glasses and a dust mask when dust or chips are released during cutting.
Who uses an oscillating multi-tool?
It is used by joiners, plumbers, electricians, installers and carpenters. The joiner uses it to plunge-cut doors and skirting boards, the installer to trim floors around pipes and corners, and the plumber and electrician to cut into walls and tight spots where another tool will not fit.
How do I use a multi-tool safely?
Always fix the accessory with the specified locking system and check that it is tight before switching on. Work at low speed on delicate materials and do not force the blade; let the oscillation do the work. Disconnect the tool or remove the battery before changing the accessory.
