What it is
The Stanley Surform 5-21-398 replacement blade is a perforated, toothed steel plate with the Surform Cut cutting action, 140 mm long and 42 mm wide, sold as a single piece. It is not a complete tool: it must be fitted to a Surform body. The 140 mm length is the same as the blade of the Surform planes 5-21-104, with a polypropylene body, and 5-21-399, with a die-cast metal body.
The spare blade for surform is the perforated, toothed plate that is fitted to the body of the tool and removes material; it is subject to wear and is replaced when it no longer cuts.
What it is for
Used in woodworking, from cutting to finishing.
How to use it
Remove the old blade by releasing the fixing on the body, fit the new one of the right shape and length and lock it again. Handle it with gloves, because the teeth are sharp. A worn blade that no longer removes material should be replaced, not sharpened.
