A cold chisel is a hardened steel tool struck with a hammer for cutting sheet metal, shearing rivets and bolts and removing scale from metal.
What it is for
Used in metalworking, in mechanical maintenance of machinery and plant, during scheduled shutdowns or breakdowns and for deburring metal after cutting and drilling.
How to use it
Clamp the workpiece in a vice and hold the chisel with your hand well away from the head, preferably using a hand guard. Strike with a hammer of suitable weight, keeping the cutting angle constant. Wear safety glasses and grind off any mushrooming on the head, as it can chip.
