A rotary brush is a twisted-knot wire or nylon accessory for grinders, drills and bench machines that removes rust, paint and scale.

What it is for

Used for preparing joint edges before welding, for cleaning oxides, grease and machining residues from metal and for removing rust and oxides.

How to use it

Fit the brush to a machine with a compatible attachment, checking that the brush's maximum speed is higher than that of the machine. Run it unloaded for a few seconds away from other people, then work with light pressure: pressing too hard bends the wires and makes them break off. Use stainless steel wire brushes on stainless steel, and always wear safety glasses or a face shield and gloves.
