An earth auger is a machine with a spiral bit that digs holes for posts, fencing, planting and footings; this category also includes bits, adaptors and replacement blades.

How to use it

Make sure there are no buried cables or pipes at the digging point. Fit a bit of the required diameter, hold the machine with both hands, feet apart, and drill at moderate speed, lifting the bit frequently to clear the soil. If the bit hits roots or stones, release the throttle immediately to avoid kickback. After use, clean the bit and replace worn blades.
