Containers for Waste or Hazardous Materials

268 products · Tanks, Cisterns and Drums for Liquid Storage

Containers for waste or hazardous materials are used to collect, hold and store liquids, oils, drums, IBC tanks and process waste in an orderly way, preventing leaks and spills in the workplace. They are used in workshops, warehouses, on building sites and wherever substances that need to be kept under control are handled.

Types in the collection

  • Collection and containment bunds in steel or polyethylene, for drums and IBC tanks (Comi Storage, Butti, Sall)
  • Portable and flexible bunds for emergencies (Sall)
  • Containers and boxes for hazardous waste, also with lid and wheels (Butti, Sall)
  • Big bag holders and hoppers (Butti, Sall)
  • Pedal bins in stainless steel (IPC Worldwide)

How to choose

Choose according to what you need to contain: the bund must be able to collect the contents of the vessels it holds, and the material must be compatible with the substance. Also consider the load capacity when full, whether the use is indoor or outdoor and whether a lid is needed. The rules on storing waste and hazardous substances depend on the type of material and must be checked case by case.

Frequently asked questions: Containers for Waste or Hazardous Materials
Collection tray for drums and IBC containers: what is it for?

The collection tray holds any spills of liquid from drums and IBC containers, preventing them from reaching the ground or the drains. The catalogue includes steel or polyethylene trays from Comi Storage, Butti and Sall. The sizing depends on the volume of the containers placed on top. For hazardous waste, storage is regulated by D.Lgs. 152/2006 (Italian Legislative Decree 152/2006, the Environmental Code): check the conditions to be met with your environmental consultant.

Containers for acids, antifreeze and used oils: how are they chosen?

The Rototec catalogue includes dedicated containers: for acids, Rotokim; for antifreeze liquid, Rotogel; for used vegetable oils, Rotoveg; and for used mineral oils, Rotoil. Each container is designed for one specific liquid. Do not mix different liquids in the same container and check compatibility with the product's safety data sheet. Label the container with the type of waste.

Portable or flexible tray for emergencies: when is it needed?

The Sall portable and flexible tray is useful for containing a small spill or a sudden leak where there is no fixed tray. Place it under the leak, move it by hand and fill it only as much as necessary. Keep it ready near the risk point, with absorbent material and tools for collection. After use, empty it and dispose of the contents as waste.

Used vegetable oils and mineral oils: why keep them separate?

Used vegetable oils and used mineral oils are different wastes and must be collected in separate containers, such as the Rotoveg and Rotoil from Rototec. Mixing them makes recovery and disposal more complicated. Follow the collection rules set by your waste contractor or the collection consortium. Label each container with the type of oil and keep it closed, away from heat sources.

Waste bins and bag holders: are they suitable for hazardous waste?

Waste bins, ashtrays, bag holders and bag stands are designed for ordinary waste, not for liquids or hazardous substances. The catalogue includes 110-litre models, such as the Zeffiro stand and the Tata Eco, and outdoor waste holders. Choose the capacity based on the amount of waste and the material based on the environment. For hazardous waste use dedicated containers, such as Butti boxes with lid and wheels.

Outdoor ashtray: column, wall or stainless steel?

The column ashtray stands on the ground on a post, the wall-mounted one is fixed to the wall, and the stainless steel one resists oxidation better outdoors. Choose the position based on the flow of people and the presence of walls. The catalogue includes outdoor ashtray litter bins and the Cigar Super model. Check fixing and capacity before installing them in busy places.

Recycling container set: how do you organise it?

A set of two recycling containers lets you separate recyclable waste from general waste right where it is produced. Choose containers with different colours or labels for each stream, so that people know where to put things. Place the sets near the workstations and check that the number of containers is enough for the volume produced. Follow the municipal or company rules for your area.
