Mafi is a brand of equipment for the building site. In this collection you will find its items in the AMES catalogue, designed for the small and large needs of the building contractor.
What you will find in this collection
- Trestles, including double trestles with fixed legs, as a support surface.
- Hopper frames for discharging materials.
- PVC bases for site fencing.
How to choose
The choice depends on the use: for trestles, height and load capacity matter; for fencing, the type of mesh or panel to be supported; for frames, the connection to the structure. If you have doubts about compatibility between several elements, it is best to talk it over before ordering.
All products are under the Mafi brand. AMES works by quotation: tell us what you need and we will propose the right items.

Frequently asked questions: Mafi
Which scaffolding tubes should I choose: galvanised or painted?
Galvanised tubes have a surface protection against corrosion and are suited to outdoor work, damp environments or long periods. Painted tubes are a simpler solution for less exposed environments. The type of tube is chosen according to how long the scaffold will stay up and the environment. The dimensions of components, such as the 22/26 ribbed tube or the 15/17 tie rod, should be checked in the technical data sheet.
Which standards apply to scaffolding tubes and couplers?
Scaffolding tubes refer to the EN 39 standard, while couplers and clamps are covered by EN 74. For assembling the scaffold, Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety requires an assembly, use and dismantling plan, known in Italy as PiMUS. Use only components that are compatible with the system and with the couplers already in place. A component of a different make may not fit with the rest of the structure.
How do I use a galvanised hatch board to access work at height?
The hatch board allows passage between working levels and must be fixed to the structure before anyone walks on it. Do not overload the board beyond the stated load and do not leave the hatch open during work. Check the grip of the supports and that the board fully covers the platform. Use it with the specified protective equipment, such as fall protection, where required by the site.
What is the aluminium telescopic prop for formwork used for?
The telescopic prop supports formwork and floors during the pour and until the concrete has cured. Height adjustment allows it to be adapted to the floor levels. The aluminium version is lighter to handle than steel. The permissible load depends on the height set and should be checked in the data sheet. Do not modify the prop and always check that the base is stable.
What is a loading hopper used for and when is the frame needed?
The loading hopper is a funnel that collects materials and directs them downwards or into a container. The hopper frame is the structure that supports it and connects it to the structure or to the opening. The frame must be fixed securely, and the load on the hopper must stay within the stated limits. For the connection to the structure, check the type of fixing and compatibility with the scaffolding tubes.
How do I install a chute for discharging debris on site?
The debris chute with chains must be fixed to the structure with suitable anchors, and connected to the opening on the floor. The area at the foot of the chute must be cordoned off and cleared, to prevent anyone from passing through during discharge. Do not exceed the weight or volume stated by the manufacturer. Check the chains and the attachment points periodically.
How do I secure site fencing with PVC bases?
PVC bases weigh down the foot of the panels or supports without making holes in the ground, and are suitable where digging is not possible. The weight required depends on the height of the fencing and the wind exposure of the area. Place the bases on a level surface and fix the panels according to the system's instructions. Check periodically that the fencing remains stable after rain and strong wind.
