Thermal Insulation System
30 products
The thermal insulation system, or external wall insulation, covers the walls of a building with insulating panels to reduce heat loss. It works only if all the components are consistent with one another: panels, profiles, mesh, accessories and tools for installation. In this collection you will find what you need to build it.
What you will find in the collection
- Insulating panels: expanded polystyrene EPS for external wall insulation, including graphite-enhanced, calcium silicate and cellular glass
- Aluminium starter profiles and PVC corner beads with mesh (Colorificio Adriatico)
- System accessories, such as those in the Kimitherm line (Kimia) and Fischer barriers and fixings
- Cutters for cutting the panels on site (Maltech, Breaker)
How to choose
The panel material should be chosen according to the substrate, the thickness required by the design and the needs of the facade. Use components that are compatible with one another and check the system manufacturer's instructions.
AMES works on a quotation basis: tell us the quantity and type of use and we will help you choose the right products.

Frequently asked questions: Thermal Insulation System
What is external wall insulation (ETICS) and which components are needed to build it?
An external wall insulation system (ETICS) is a thermal cladding applied to external walls using insulation boards, mesh and basecoat render. It reduces the building's heat loss. The system works only if all the components are compatible with one another: boards, starter profiles, corner beads, adhesives and paints. It is best to choose components designed to work together and not to mix different brands without checking.
Which insulation boards are used for external wall insulation and how do they differ?
The collection includes expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards, such as Kimia's Kimitherm EPS 100, calcium silicate boards from Bacchi and GLAPOR cellular glass insulation. Polystyrene is the most widely used material for external wall insulation. Calcium silicate and cellular glass are mineral materials. The choice depends on thickness, weight and the designer's specifications.
Which profiles and corner beads are needed at the edges and starting points of the system?
The aluminium starter profile is fitted at the base of the wall and supports the first row of boards. The PVC corner bead with mesh protects the corners, while the drip edge profile stops water from running down the facade. The collection includes Kimia and Colorificio Adriatico versions. Choose the profile according to the type of system and the installation instructions.
Which adhesive or basecoat should I use to fix the boards and for the render coat?
Kimia's Betonfix Termorasa and Colorificio Adriatico's Plastotherm CA-10 are adhesive-basecoat products, designed both to bond the boards and to apply the basecoat. Check the intended use on the data sheet. Mix the product with the stated amount of water, apply an even layer and let it dry before applying paint or finish.
Which paints are used on external wall insulation and what are the application cycles?
The Kimipaint range includes the Sil Top, Hydro, EASY and Deco paints. The SIL BASE primer is a breathable, water-repellent product designed for siloxane cycles. The EASY paints are based on acrylic resins in water dispersion. Choose the cycle according to the substrate and the type of finish, following the data sheet of each product.
Which fire barriers are fitted in an external wall insulation system and why?
In these systems you find Fischer fire barriers, such as the FCPS board, the VentiStop FFB-VS barrier and the Cavity Clad FCFcl for cavities. They serve to limit the spread of fire along the facade. Their positioning must be defined by the designer and by the fire safety regulations in force, not by a generic indication.
How do you work safely at height on an external wall insulation system?
Work at height requires correctly erected scaffolding or a mobile scaffold tower and fall protection. Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety requires the employer to assess the risks and adopt measures for work at height. Before starting, check the boards, the profiles and the stability of the substrate, and wear the protective equipment required for the activity.
