What it is

A mitre saw is a base-mounted saw with a circular blade that lowers onto the workpiece for straight and angled cuts; there are sliding models for wood and cut-off saws for metal.
What it is for

How to use it
Secure the machine to the bench or stand and fit the blade suited to the material, with the arrow in the direction of rotation. Clamp the workpiece against the fence, start the saw and lower the blade only at full speed, guiding it without forcing. Wear safety glasses and hearing protection, and wait for the blade to stop before raising it.
