What it is

The DeWalt DT5224-QZ is an HSS-G drill bit to DIN 338 for drilling metal, in HSS with a diameter of 11 mm. It has a working length of 94 mm and a total length of 142 mm, sizes suited to medium-to-large-diameter holes in steel, sheet metal and sections. It is supplied in a box.

How to use it

Mark the centre with a centre punch, clamp the workpiece and drill at a speed that is lower the larger the diameter and the harder the material. Maintain steady pressure, lubricate with cutting oil on steel and stainless steel and, for large diameters, drill a pilot hole first. Withdraw the bit frequently to clear the swarf, and never touch the swarf with bare hands.
