What it is

The DeWalt DT5548-QZ is a twist drill bit for metal with a diameter of 5.5 mm, in HSS high-speed steel, supplied in a multipack of 10 pieces. With a working length of 57 mm and a total length of 93 mm, it offers greater drilling depth than the smaller sizes, ideal for metal components of more substantial thickness.

What it is for

Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.

How to use it

Mark the centre with a centre punch, clamp the workpiece and drill at a speed that is lower the larger the diameter and the harder the material. Maintain steady pressure, lubricate with cutting oil on steel and stainless steel and, for large diameters, drill a pilot hole first. Withdraw the bit frequently to clear the swarf, and never touch the swarf with bare hands.
