Step drill bit Extreme 6-20mm, 2mm step, DeWalt DT90248-QZ

What it is

Step drill bit DeWalt Extreme DT90248-QZ with titanium coating, which makes holes from 6 to 20 mm with 2 mm steps. The double-spiral flute extends life and clears the chips well, while the diameters laser-engraved on each step stay legible during drilling. DeWalt states it is optimised for impact drivers and drill drivers; the same family includes the DT90246 and DT90247.

Drill bits include individual bits and assorted sets for drilling metal, wood and masonry, including step drills and SDS-Plus bits.

What it is for

Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.

How to use it

Choose the bit suited to the material: HSS or cobalt for metal, brad-point bit for wood, carbide-tipped with hammer action for masonry. Fit it securely, drill in line with the speed set for the diameter, and withdraw it frequently to clear the chips. Use step drills on thin sheet metal, advancing to the step of the required diameter.
