SDS-Max hammer drill bit DeWalt DT9446-QZ

What it is

The DeWalt DT9446-QZ is an SDS-Max bit with a diameter of 40 mm and a long working length of 800 mm, designed for deep, large-section through holes in masonry. The carbide-tooth head and four-flute body maintain grip on the material and debris removal along the whole stroke; the weight of around 4.01 kg reflects the combination of large diameter and extended length.

An SDS-Max bit is a carbide-tipped bit for rotary hammers with an SDS-Max chuck, for large-diameter, deep holes in concrete and masonry.

What it is for

Used for drilling reinforced concrete, in hammer or rotary hammer mode and for drilling solid and hollow masonry, clay brick and blocks.

How to use it

Clean and lightly grease the shank, insert it into the chuck until it locks and select hammer drilling. Drill with the hammer held in line with the hole, letting the machine's weight do the work without pushing, and withdraw the bit frequently to clear the dust. If you hit a reinforcing bar, stop and move the hole; do not cool a hot bit in water.
