What it is
The Fervi D001 Rockwell bench-top hardness tester is a measuring instrument dedicated to determining the hardness of metals by the Rockwell method, with a reading of 0.5 HR. It comes with a diamond indenter and a ball indenter, two flat anvils, a V anvil and five calibration blocks (HRC, 3xHRB, HRA) for periodic accuracy checks. It covers the scales HRC 20÷70, HRB 25÷100 and HRA 20÷88, with test forces of 588.4 N, 980.7 N and 1471 N (60, 100 and 150 kgf). The maximum workpiece height is 170 mm with a measuring depth of 125 mm; the dimensions are 185 x 465 x 640 mm for a net weight of 90 kg.
The durometer is an instrument that measures the hardness of rubber and plastics, by pressing a point onto the material and reading the value on a scale.
What it is for
Used in quality control of parts and workmanship and for measuring on site and in the workshop.
How to use it
Place the instrument on the material, flat and perpendicular, on a piece of sufficient thickness and away from the edges. Press firmly until the base touches the workpiece and read the value. Repeat the measurement several times and take the average. Periodically check the calibration on test blocks.
