What it is

A backing pad is a disc fitted to the machine, either as a hook-and-loop support for abrasives or as an abrasive pad, for sanding and polishing metal, wood and stone.
What it is for
Used for sanding surfaces, as preparation or as a finish and for sanding surfaces before treatment.
How to use it
Check that the fitting and diameter match the machine and that the pad's maximum speed is not lower than that of the tool. Fit it well centred with the machine stopped, apply the abrasive to the hook-and-loop face and work flat with light pressure, moving from coarse to fine grits. Use stone polishing pads in grit sequence, dry or wet as specified.
