Connectors

Connectors, commonly called karabiners, are the elements that link harnesses, lanyards, fall arresters and anchors together in systems protecting against falls from height. They are part of the personal protective equipment (PPE) used for work at height and must be chosen according to the system they are fitted into.

Types in the collection

• Screw-gate connectors, with a manual gate that screws shut.
• Self-closing connectors, which close by themselves and are quicker to use.
• Delta rings and maillons, for redirection or linking connections.
• Steel hooks with a large opening, suited to attaching to rebar and structures.

How to choose

Check that the connector is CE-marked and complies with the EN 362 standard for fall protection connectors. Then consider the material (steel or aluminium), the type of gate, the opening and the breaking load in kN, according to the anchor and the equipment to be connected. For site use, steel is often preferred for its robustness.
