What it is

The DeWalt DCF897NT-XJ high-power impact wrench with a 3/4" square drive is among the most powerful in the XR 18 V range: it delivers a maximum fastening torque of 950 Nm and a breakaway torque of up to 1625 Nm, with a power of 610 W. The 3 speed settings (0-400/0-1200/0-1900 rpm) and an impact frequency of up to 2400 blows/min offer great control over the most demanding tightening jobs. It weighs 2.6 Kg, measures 267 mm and is fitted with an LED light, CE marking and case.

A square-drive impact wrench is a rotary impact tool, cordless or pneumatic, for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts with sockets.

What it is for

Used for repetitive screwdriving into wood, metal and plasterboard, where torque and consistency matter, for vehicle maintenance, in the workshop and on the road and for tightening nuts and bolts where torque must be accurate and repeatable.

How to use it

Fit an impact socket, tougher than standard sockets, securing it with the hog ring or detent pin of the drive. Select the mode or power setting, start the nut by hand and run the tool while keeping it in line. For bolts with a specified torque, such as wheels and structural connections, run them down with the impact wrench and finish with a torque wrench; pneumatic models require filtered, lubricated air.
