Titanium bit, 8 mm, for impact driver, DeWalt DT50013-QZ

What it is

The DeWalt DT50013-QZ is a titanium drill bit of 8 mm diameter designed for drilling metal with impact drivers. Made of HSS with a tin coating and fitted with a quick-change hex shank, it offers a working length of 50 mm and is specifically rated to withstand impact loads, thanks also to the pilot-point head that eases centring.

A metal drill bit is an HSS, cobalt or coated twist drill for drilling steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and plastic with a drill or drill driver.

What it is for

Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.

How to use it

Mark the centre with a centre punch, clamp the workpiece and drill at a speed that is lower the larger the diameter and the harder the material. Maintain steady pressure, lubricate with cutting oil on steel and stainless steel and, for large diameters, drill a pilot hole first. Withdraw the bit frequently to clear the swarf, and never touch the swarf with bare hands.
