What it is

The DeWalt DT5556-QZ is a twist drill bit for metal with a diameter of 9.5 mm, in HSS high-speed steel, supplied in a multipack of 10 pieces. With a working length of 78 mm and a total length of 125 mm, it is sized for drilling metal components of high thickness, where good depth and tool stability are required.

How to use it

Mark the centre with a centre punch, clamp the workpiece and drill at a speed that is lower the larger the diameter and the harder the material. Maintain steady pressure, lubricate with cutting oil on steel and stainless steel and, for large diameters, drill a pilot hole first. Withdraw the bit frequently to clear the swarf, and never touch the swarf with bare hands.
