XR Extreme Runtime flap disc DeWalt DT99584-QZ

What it is

The DeWalt DT99584-QZ flap disc from the XR Extreme Runtime range has a diameter of 125 mm and grit 60, suited to intermediate sanding and finishing work. Grit 60 offers a good compromise between material removal capacity and surface quality, suited to work following roughing. It is supplied as a single piece, ready to use on angle grinders that take the 125 mm diameter.

A flap disc is an abrasive made of overlapping cloth flaps, on a disc for angle grinders or on a shank for straight grinders, that roughs down and finishes metal and wood.

What it is for

Used for sanding metal, from roughing to finishing, for deburring metal after cutting and drilling and for grinding and cleaning up weld seams and burrs.

How to use it

Fit the disc on the angle grinder, or insert the shank-mounted flap wheel in the collet of the straight grinder or drill, observing the maximum speed. Work with light pressure at a slight angle, keeping the tool moving so as not to overheat or mark the workpiece. Progress from coarse to fine grits for finishing, and replace the disc when the cloth is worn down to the backing.
