A shelf support is a small support that is inserted into a hole in the side panel to hold a shelf in furniture and bookcases. It may be plastic or metal, nail-type, pin-type or moulded.

Insert four shelf supports per shelf, at the same height in the holes of the side panels. Rest the shelf on them, checking that it is level and seated firmly on all the supports. Observe the stated load and replace any support that works loose.
