What it is

A standard spirit level is a rigid aluminium profile with bubble vials for checking the level and plumb of masonry, frames, installation and assembly work.

What it is for

Used for levelling surfaces and structures and for setting out, for measuring on site and in the workshop and in masonry work, from laying blocks to filling chases.

How to use it

Clean the bearing edge and the surface to be checked. Rest the spirit level on it without pressing and read the horizontal vial for level and the vertical vial for plumb, looking at it from the front. Check the calibration by turning the level through 180° at the same point: the bubble must stay in the same position. Do not use it as a lever or for hammering, as the profile deforms and the vials lose calibration.
