A pointing trowel is a small trowel with a short blade, pointed, square or leaf-shaped, for precision work.
What it is for
Used in masonry work, from laying blocks to filling chases, for laying mortar and for filling surfaces and joints.
How to use it
It is used to pick up small amounts of mortar or filler and carry them where a normal trowel cannot reach: joints, corners, patching and small repairs. Work with the blade tilted and go over the work again to even it out. After the job, wash it with water before the material hardens and, if the blade is steel, dry it to prevent rust.
