What it is
The DeWalt DT6978-QZ point chisel is a demolition accessory with pointed steel and an SDS PLUS fitting, designed to concentrate the impact energy and break up concrete. With a working length of 300 mm and an overall length of 38.5 cm, it keeps a light weight of 0.335 kg that helps control, and it is compatible with rotary hammers and hammers fitted with an SDS PLUS coupling.
A demolition chisel is a steel tool with an SDS-Plus, SDS-Max or hex shank that, fitted to a hammer, breaks up concrete, masonry and tiles.
What it is for
Used for demolishing masonry and concrete structures, for light demolition, chasing and localised removal and for chiselling concrete, masonry and plaster.
How to use it
Choose the shape: pointed for breaking, flat or spade for scaling and removing tiles, channel for chasing. Grease the shank, insert it into the chuck of the hammer set to chiselling only and work letting the machine's weight do the job, without using the chisel as a lever. Wear safety glasses, gloves and ear defenders, and have the chisel resharpened or replace it when the cutting edge is worn.
