What it is

The DeWalt DWD522KS-QS hammer drill is a powerful corded tool with 950 W power output and two mechanical speed settings (0-1,250 and 0-3,500 rpm), designed for demanding work in masonry, metal and wood. The two-speed gearbox and variable speed allow torque and rpm to be matched to the material, with a maximum torque of 20 Nm. The hammer action reaches 0-56,000 blows per minute, giving drilling capacities of up to 20 mm in masonry, 13 mm in metal and 40 mm in wood. The 1.5-13 mm chuck ensures a robust grip; the body weighs 2.8 kg and is 370 mm long.

How to use it

Choose the right tool and accessory: SDS bit and rotary hammer for concrete, hammer drill for brick, impact wrench with socket for bolts. Hold with both hands, using the side handle where fitted, and drill square to the surface without forcing. Wear safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection, and check that there are no cables or pipes in the wall.
