HSS-E cobalt bit 13.0 mm DeWalt DT4917-QZ

What it is

The DeWalt DT4917-QZ is a metal drill bit with a diameter of 13 mm, made of HSS-Co cobalt-alloyed high-speed steel to withstand effectively the heat produced when drilling steels. The working length of 101 mm and the total bit length of 151 mm make it suitable for large-diameter holes, while the tri-flat shank provides a stable hold in the drill chuck.

What it is for

Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.

How to use it

Mark the centre with a centre punch, clamp the workpiece and drill at a speed that is lower the larger the diameter and the harder the material. Maintain steady pressure, lubricate with cutting oil on steel and stainless steel and, for large diameters, drill a pilot hole first. Withdraw the bit frequently to clear the swarf, and never touch the swarf with bare hands.
