SDS-Plus chisel, DeWalt DT6801-QZ

What it is

The DeWalt DT6801-QZ SDS-Plus chisel is a demolition tool with a pointed steel tip, designed for working concrete. With a chisel length of 250 mm and an overall length of 31 cm, it offers good penetration; its weight of 0.241 kg helps with control. The SDS-Plus connecting shank makes it compatible with rotary hammers and hammers fitted with this fitting.

A demolition chisel is a steel tool with an SDS-Plus, SDS-Max or hex shank that, fitted to a hammer, breaks up concrete, masonry and tiles.

What it is for

Used for demolishing masonry and concrete structures, for light demolition, chasing and localised removal and for chiselling concrete, masonry and plaster.

How to use it

Choose the shape: pointed for breaking, flat or spade for scaling and removing tiles, channel for chasing. Grease the shank, insert it into the chuck of the hammer set to chiselling only and work letting the machine's weight do the job, without using the chisel as a lever. Wear safety glasses, gloves and ear defenders, and have the chisel resharpened or replace it when the cutting edge is worn.
