What it is
The DeWalt DW033-XJ laser distance measure is a compact instrument designed for quickly measuring distances on site and in working environments. With a working range of up to 30 metres and a stated accuracy of +/-3 mm at 10 metres, it allows reliable measurements and replaces the traditional measuring wheel or tape measure in everyday tasks. It is battery powered, with 2 batteries included, for practical, cable-free use.
A laser distance meter is an instrument that measures distances, areas and volumes with a laser beam, without running out a tape.

Used for laser measurement of distances, heights and areas and for taking measurements and levels in the field.
How to use it
Place the instrument on the starting point, selecting the measuring reference: front edge, rear edge or end piece. Aim the beam at the target surface and press the button; outdoors or over long distances, use the viewfinder, camera or a target plate. Never point the beam into anyone's eyes, and keep the lens clean.
