What it is

The Fervi ST2A16.50 taper-shank twist drill bit is a cutting tool for professional drilling of metals. With a diameter of Ø 16.50 mm and a 118° point angle, it offers efficient cutting on a wide variety of metal components. The hardness of the cutting edge, between 700 and 740 HV, ensures its wear resistance, while manufacture to DIN 345 guarantees standardised dimensions and full compatibility with Morse taper workshop equipment.

A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.

What it is for

Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.

How to use it

Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
